The Robin Chapel Choir has a tradition of fine choral music. This professional adult choir sings a broad repertoire, in the ‘Cathedral tradition’, following the course of the Christian year.
The Robin Chapel is a Grade A listed building that sits within a housing development (Thistle Foundation), built for disabled service personnel, after World War II. It is an inter-denominational chapel, built in memory of Robin Tudsbery, a Lieutenant in The Blues and Royals, who was killed on active duty at the very end of the war.
The choir is a highly able ensemble of professional singers performing much of the standard cathedral repertoire at a sung service every Sunday at 4pm. The choir are also involved in a few special services as well as concerts and visits to other churches and cathedrals. The Choir of the Robin Chapel primarily consists of 8 Lay Clerks (SATB voices) which is regularly augmented by a group of regular choristers.
Whilst at present there are no vacancies for Lay Clerks our Director of Music, Paul Gudgin, Dr h.c., is always happy to receive enquiries from those who would like to be auditioned to join our list of Choristers. Unlike that of Lay Clerks, which is a paid tenured appointment, Choristers are paid for the occasions on which they are invited to sing.
